Aimee Brown – author bio:

Aimee Brown is a writer and an avid reader. Little Gray Dress is her first published novel. My second novel is in the works now. She’s currently studying for her Bachelor’s degree in English Writing. She spends much of her time writing, doing homework, raising three teenagers, binge watching shows on Netflix and obsessively cleaning and redecorating her house. She’s fluent in sarcasm and has been known to utter profanities like she’s competing for a medal.

Aimee grew up in Oregon but is now a transplant living in cold Montana with her husband of twenty years, three teenage children, and far too many pets.

She would love to hear your thoughts on Little Gray Dress! If you’d like to chat with her she’s very active on social media. You can find her at any of the networks below. Stop by and say hello!

What readers are saying:

“Hollywood glitz meets backwoods grit in this fast-paced ride on D-list celeb Maizie Albright’s waning star—even as it’s reborn in a spectacular collision with her nightmarish stage mother, her deer-pee-scented-apparel-inventing daddy…and a murderer. Sassy, sexy, and fun, 15 Minutes is hours of enjoyment—and a wonderful start to a fun new series from the charmingly Southern-fried Reinhart.”
— Phoebe Fox, author of The Breakup Doctor series

“Child star and hilarious hot mess Maizie Albright trades Hollywood for the backwoods of Georgia and pure delight ensues. Maizie’s my new favorite escape from reality.”
— Gretchen Archer, USA Today bestselling author of the Davis Way Crime Caper series

“I was already a huge fan of Larissa Reinhart’s Cherry Tucker series, but in her new mystery series, FIFTEEN MINUTES, she had me at the end of the first line: ‘Donuts.’

Maizie Albright is the kind of fresh, fun, and feisty ‘star detective’ I love spending time with, a kind of Nancy Drew meets Lucy Ricardo. Move over, Janet Evanovich. Reinhart is my new ‘star mystery writer!’”
— Penny Warner, Author of Death of a Chocolate Cheater and The Code Busters Club

“Larissa Reinhart’s newest heroine, Maizie Albright, is at once naïve and worldly. As a former child star, she craves life in the real world by becoming a PI, just like the TV character that made her famous. Armed with humor, charm, and stubborn determination, Maizie is a breath of fresh air. I adored every second of 15 Minutes. Viva la Maizie!”
— Terri L. Austin, author of the Rose Strickland mysteries and the Null for Hire series.

Midnight Sisters:

Do no meddle with the Master’s daughters.

The words rattle around Jonas’ head. What is the punishment again? Death? Dismemberment? Jonas, the newest addition to the gardening staff, can’t recall the exact penalty for breaking the rule. What does it matter anyway? He would never dream of meddling with the Earl of Bromhurst’s haughty daughters.

Until he comes face to face with Lady Ariela Spencer, the eldest of the His Lordship’s daughters.

Her elusive smile and open manner cause him to question his convictions. In no time, he’s drawn into Lady Ariela’s world of mystery and intrigue, a world where she and her sisters will do anything—including leaving twelve empty beds at midnight—to escape their father’s strict rules.

Only Jonas can uncover the truth and save them from their father’s wrath and their own folly, if he is willing to risk everything he’s ever worked for.

A Closer Look at One of the Midnight Sisters:

Meet Krisela:
“You like that, don’t you boy?” Brutus lapped up the water like he’d run all over creation. Would my father never learn to care for his hunting dogs? Caesar nudged Brutus out of the way. They reminded me of the triplets, always vying for a place.
“Now, now,” I said, patting Caesar’s black head. “There’s plenty for everyone, boys.”
“You have a way with them,” a deep voice said.
My nerves zinged. I hazarded a glance behind me. It was enough to confirm my worst fears. But why would Lord Whatsits spare any time for me? I was only fourteen.
“I’ve fine hunters of my own, My Lady. Have you any tips on managing them?”
I kept my eyes glued on the dogs who were still pushing one another to get to the water. I knelt to dump the rest of the bucket full of water into their dish. I stayed on my knees with one hand on each animal.
“You’re a shy one aren’t you, My Lady?” The low voice hummed with innuendo. “I’ve always liked a challenge.”
I closed my eyes tightly. Please don’t do it. Please don’t do it. Please don’t do it.
He shuffled nearer. I could feel him behind me. There was only one thing to do. I leaned forward so only the dogs could hear me. “Get him, boys!”
They tore off, nearly toppling me in the process. Wild yelps sounded followed by a not-so-manly shriek. I turned to watch to nobleman galloping across the grounds like an ungainly giraffe. The dogs were nearly at his heels. “Do it! Come on, boys!” I whispered. With a leap, Brutus sank his teeth into Lord Whatsits’s derriere. A chortle of laughter broke free. I laughed until my sides hurt.

A COMPOSITION IN MURDER, A Cherry Tucker Mystery #2, by Larissa Reinhart

Excerpt 2

“How much time do you have before you leave for work?” I asked against his raspy cheek. Even Luke’s five o’clock shadow tasted good. And looked sexy as hell against the definition of his cheekbones and hard-edged jaw. I loved his days off when he didn’t have to be clean-shaven, starched, and polyestered Deputy Harper. He’d soon head home to shave and change into his superhero costume.

“Not near enough.” He had moved past my neck and headed south fast. My sweater had disappeared. My corduroy shorts and ribbed tights would be next to go on Luke’s list of unnecessary clothing items. However, it was winter, and even though I lived in Georgia, standing bare-assed in my kitchen did not seem the brightest of ideas.

Particularly when my roommate was due home any moment.

Particularly when my roommate was my sort-of ex-husband.

“Wait up.” I caught Luke’s face between my hands and drew it north. “I’ve told you this before, any number of people have been known to walk through my back door. At any time of day. Or night.”

Luke leaned his body into mine. “That’s why I installed the deadbolt.” A dimple winked and his hands began a new journey.

“I can’t lock Todd out of his own house.”

The hands stopped roaming. “Sugar, this is not Todd’s house. This is your family’s house. Isn’t it time for him to move along?”

“Let’s not talk about that right now.”

“Fine. I had other things on my mind than talking.” His hands grasped my waist.

“Actually, I do want to talk. I’m having a Matlock moment.”

His hands fell from my waist and he cocked his head. “Mayberry Matlock?”

“Matlock didn’t live in Mayberry. Andy Griffith lived in Mayberry. Although he was a sheriff, so this might work for both shows.”

Luke folded his arms. “What might work?”

“Today I had to witness Belvia Brakeman signing her new will. And you know what I think?”

“Hard telling.”

“Something’s up with that family. Her long-lost daughter showed up and seemed real pushy about making Miss Belvia sign the will. Doesn’t that strike you as odd?”

“I’ll tell you what’s odd, you thinking about Belvia Brakeman while I’m kissing you.” Luke placed his hands on either side of my legs and leaned forward until his forehead touched mine. “How’d you end up witnessing Belvia’s will?”

“She asked for me. As the deputy in charge of Della Brakeman’s hit and run, have you met her sister, Coralee?”

Luke pulled away. “Oh no. We aren’t doing this. No ma’am. Della Brakeman’s death is an active investigation.”

“You suspect foul play. I can hear it in your voice.”

“Didn’t say that, although getting struck by an unidentified vehicle and left to die makes it a suspicious death. We generally don’t throw around words like foul play.”

“Matlock did.” I kissed him, but before he could surge ahead, I broke contact to murmur against his lips, “So any suspects? Are you looking at Coralee Brakeman or whatever her married name is? When did she get to town? If she’s the big inheritor of Meemaw’s Tea fortune, that’s an awful big motive.”

“Cherrilyn Tucker.” Tiny kisses spread across my cheek, trailing heat. “Are you interfering in an open investigation when I just told you it was none of your beeswax?”

“No, sir, Deputy Harper. But I did not get good vibes from Coralee and I’m worried about Miss Belvia.”

“Let’s work on another type of vibe.” The kisses moved to my neck.

I shivered under the onslaught. “I’m also wondering why Miss Belvia wants to see me again. It’s not for a funeral portrait.”

Luke pulled back to study me. “What did you say to her?”

“Nothing, other than I wanted to make sure no one had tampered with her will. She signed blind, you know.”

“Lord Almighty. You know Mrs. Brakeman’s a powerful woman? Meemaw’s Tea is on one of those Fortune lists. Don’t mess around with that family. Especially with this suspicious death hanging over their heads.”

“I’m not. She requested to see me. Something about my other talents. Said she’d heard about me.”

“Other talents? Like this one?” He whispered a suggestion in my ear.

I slid my hands from his chest to his shoulders. “Todd really will be home any minute.”

“Then we have a minute. This is not a problem.”

Spotlight: Dylan Quinn and Origin

Friends Followers Readers!  Do I have a HOT spotlight for you today!

Both Gemini and Origin are on sale for .99 today, 10/28!

origin-cadesabsteaserOne sacrifice saved humanity.

One kill will change everything.

One secret could destroy them all.

Sometimes the most dangerous battle is the war within ourselves.

One sacrifice can save humanity.

So can one heartbeat. One kiss. One touch. I didn’t save my Gemini’s soul the night I rescued him from the dark realm. Cade Adams saved mine.

One kill has changed everything.

Since I eradicated the world’s most dangerous demon, the Fallen factions are out for blood, and their target is my family: Genesis—the Origin of humanity. The only way to protect my legacy against an ancient prophecy threatening to take me out is to resume my reign as Chayah, Eternal Mother. But I can’t remember her. My own secrets are buried so deep, even I can’t reach them.

One secret could destroy us all.

EXCERPT from Origin:

Thousands of years loving Cade and five lifetimes leading Genesis are lost to me. While I’ve been off fighting to remember my own life, my family’s been fighting each other. Our own demons just may destroy humanity’s only defense against the darkness before the Eternal war has even begun.

Sometimes the most dangerous battle is the war within ourselves.

Book Excerpt:

“May I?” Cade tilted his head toward his fingers that firmly gripped the hem of my tank top, waiting for my consent.

I couldn’t manage a single word, just nodded, my tongue nearly hanging out of my mouth.

I squeaked out a yes, and Cade promptly tiptoed his fingertips up to my waist, letting them drag slowly, torturously against my skin while he peeled my shirt up and off my grimy body.

I sucked in a breath, the whisper of Cade’s touch forcing goose bumps dashing across my skin.

I’d waited for this night for months. Years, even.

Two days ago, however, I wasn’t sure this moment was ever going to happen, and yet here we were. Twin Souls preparing to Converge.

Even the sound of the words spinning inside my brain set butterflies fluttering in my belly. I wasn’t quite sure what converging souls meant, but at that moment, as Cade undressed me with his eyes, I couldn’t wait to find out.

Cade gazed hungrily, never wavering focus as he tossed my nasty shirt in the trash. He set my hands on his bare waist, no doubt, inspiring them to explore.

Cade was sweaty and definitely needed a bath.

Didn’t matter, though. No amount of grime could keep my hands steady. It had been a rare occasion I’d seen my Gemini bare-chested, and with unlimited access now, I wasn’t about to waste the opportunity.

I chewed on my bottom lip, my gaze wandering down his broad chest to his abs. Despite the fact he’d been captive in a rotting cell for the past two months, his body told a different story. Firm, traceable lines made my fingertips greedy, inspiring them to follow the unexplored path across his tan stomach.

I hummed beneath my breath, and Cade let out a quiet laugh, lifting my chin to regain my attention.

He hovered over me at six-foot five, give or take an inch. I held my own, a dash shy of six feet now, but I liked being smaller than him. It was comforting when he held me.

I was protected. Safe.

“Sit.” He gestured to the ledge of the tub, and I sat on the edge.

Cade kneeled in front of me, picking up each foot, one at a time, unlacing each boot and tossing it aside.

Butterflies swarmed. Knots tightened. Sweat pooled on my forehead, nervous energy building inside me.

Cade rose to his feet, a naughty crooked smile splashed across his face. He unbuttoned his jeans, pushing them down and kicking them off slowly, never taking his gaze from mine.

Iridescent wisps swirled in his eyes while he stood before me, absolutely bare.

And so. Freaking. Beautiful.

My breath caught. Gazing over his perfect body, I bit my bottom lip.

Couldn’t help it.

I’d never seen a man naked before.

Book Tour: A Sudden Crush

Friends & Booklovers, I am delighted to present to you today A Sudden Crush by Camilla Isley.

A Sudden Crush

By Author Camilla Isley

Joanna Price is a city girl with the perfect life. She loves her job as a book editor, she just married Liam, high profile bestselling author and the man of her dreams, and she’s headed to the Caribbean to enjoy two weeks of paradise for her luxurious honeymoon.

Connor Duffield is a gruff, grumpy rancher from the Midwest. He is a country boy who has a no-nonsense approach to life, more scars than he’d like to admit, and he hates city girls.

So it’s just a misfortune they have to sit next to each other for a six hour plane ride. Even more so when their flight is caught in the perfect storm and Joanna wakes up stranded on a desert island with Connor, the very man she hoped she would never have to see again.

Why are they alone on this forsaken island? What happened to Joanna’s husband?

When her dream honeymoon turns into a hilarious tropical nightmare, Joanna’s first thought is survival. However, she and Connor will quickly discover just how boring paradise can be. As the days turn to weeks, and then months, this mismatched pair will have to learn how to coexist and how to resist the sparkles of an attraction they weren’t prepared to feel.

When they are finally rescued will Joanna’s marriage be saved as well, or will the life she knew and loved be in ruins?

A Special Excerpt is below!

Pride, Prejudice, and Naked Trolls
And with these words he hastily left the room, and Elizabeth heard him the next moment open the front door and quit the house.

“What are you doing?” Connor’s accusing voice comes brusquely from somewhere above me.

“Huh?” I reluctantly tear my eyes from the screen to look at his dark silhouette towering over me. “Reading a book.” Why did he question me as if he had just caught me skinning baby seals?

“Have you made lunch?” he asks impatiently.

“Who said I was supposed to make it?”

“You’re the woman. I skin the fish, and you slice the fruit.”

I consider reacting to his sexist comment by starting a feminist sit-in. But his statement actually makes sense as I will never be able to skin anything, knife or no knife. And since I don’t mind preparing the fruit instead… I look at him directly, extending my hand for him to pull me up. I say “Deal” as our eyes come level, and abandon Miss Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy to go cook—or, rather, peel and slice.

“So, are you from Chicago?” I ask a while later as we eat lunch “inside”.

Grunt, negative kind.

“Where do you live, then?”

“At the border.”

“With Canada?” I ask hesitantly.

“Wisconsin, Illinois, and Iowa. I’m in Dubuque, but I have lands in each state.”

“Oh, it must be fun when you’re paying taxes.”

Grunt in the sarcastic affirmative.

When we’re done eating, he extracts two short, thin wooden twigs and peels the bark off the tip of one, revealing a white, soft-looking core underneath.

“Here.” He passes it to me. “Chew on the tip.”

“What is this?” I take it from him and sniff it, uncertain.

“Chewstick. It’s a natural toothbrush. They use it to make toothpaste—it will keep your teeth healthy.”

“Oh, okay. Thanks! So why were you going to the Caribbean?” I tentatively bite on the thingy. The tip is fibrous, kind of frothy, and tastes slightly bitter. But it’s not too bad, and it’s definitely better than having my teeth rot.

“I wasn’t.”

Long pause.

“Meaning?” I mumble while I keep chewing my stick.

“I was going to South America.”

Another pause.

“Damn, it really is hard to talk to you!” I burst out.

“Huh?” He looks at me sheepishly.

“When I’m lucky and it’s not a grunt, you reply with monosyllables. It’s unnerving.”

“What do you want me to say?”

“Like for example adding why you were going to South America. Or you could ask about me.”

“I already know everything about your honeymoon drama as you kindly provided every little detail about it on the plane—twice.”

Fair enough. I did blab a bit too much maybe, at least considering he was a perfect stranger at the time.

“I was going to South America to check on some fields we own there. They had some problems with the last crop,” Connor elaborates.

After this short comment, it’s silence again.

“And then you go on and tell me what the problem with the crop was,” I prod him. Conversation 101 by Joanna Price, part two.

“Nah, you wouldn’t want to know. You’d get bored.”

“More than I already am?” I push my finished leaf plate aside and lean on my elbow next to him. “Plus, it’s siesta time, so there’s nothing else we can do besides talk.”

For a split second I see something flash in his eyes, as if he thought there could be a lot of other things we could do besides talking. However, the look comes and goes in a blink, so much so that I wonder if I’d only imagined it. I’m sure my face is tomato red right now; I hope it doesn’t show in the dim light of the hut. Anyway, if he had any naughty thoughts you wouldn’t be able to tell from the tone of his next statement.

“This year we had a bad case of soybean rust—it’s basically a fungus that attacks and destroys the leaves of the plant.” He starts telling me his crop troubles, and I pretend to be an interested listener. “We lost more than half of our projected yield. I wanted to make sure they got control practices right for next year, as we can’t afford to…”

Open eyes. Where am I? Honeymoon? No. Hut, desert island, shipwrecked. What happened?

The last thing I can remember is Connor talking about crop bugs and other boring stuff. Oh my, I must have fallen asleep while he was talking! If he was difficult before, now he will never talk to me again. I’d better go apologize.

I crawl out of our shelter and stand on all fours on the threshold to look for him. I spot him walking up a sand dune in the general direction of the jungle. From where I stand, I can only see his naked torso. He’s holding something that looks like a spear in his left hand, and his body is shiny in the sun. He must have just come out of the water. Primitive fishing technique? I’m about to get up and wave when the rest of his body emerges from behind the dune and I see that he’s butt naked. I quickly cover my eyes with my hands and flatten my body against the hut floor, barely suppressing a squeal. My face feels so hot I’m sure there must be steam spewing out of my ears and nostrils.

After a while I can’t help but peek from between my fingers. Mr. Naked Ogre has already passed the hut, and he’s moving towards the jungle path to the lake. All the while presenting me with the spectacle of his white buttocks rhythmically bobbling as he walks. They make for a hypnotic sight; I don’t seem to be able to tear my eyes away from them. Good thing I don’t have a secret fantasy about sex on the beach, or naked, tall strangers, or primitive men in their naked glory, or whatever.

I shake my head, as if by doing so I can make the image of his nude body fly out of my mind, and decide I’d better apply myself to some handiwork. I pick up Manny and head to the opposite side of the jungle to collect some more wood for the fire and some more fruit.

About the Author:

Hi! I’m a writer of romantic comedy, cat’s lover, coffee addict, and shoes hoarder.

Besides writing, I love reading (surprise, surprise), cooking—and eating—especially pasta, going to the movies and obviously ordering a gigantic bowl of popcorn, and watching too much TV.

I understand that mosquitoes play a role in the ecosystem as a part of other animals’ diet, and I don’t want to starve all those frog princes out there, but I could really live without them.
