I’m so excited to bring you Christmas Confessions & Cocktails by Vicki Lesage.
As soon as I started reading Christmas Confessions and Cocktails, I felt like I had made a new friend. The author writes in such a way that I was actually nodding my head, agreeing with her, as she proclaimed her affinity for tasty concoctions and her aversion to bugs. Her short stories were followed by a cocktail recipe which related to the theme of the story, all of them related to Christmas.
They were delightful – humorous and heartwarming. There were some stories of Paris and abroad, as well as in America. Some stories detailed traveling by plane- solo and drunk, or with one or two children (infant and toddler). I particularly enjoyed the tales of having a young family and Christmas with 52 relatives in a small house. I’ve never been to Paris, so for me, reading about living and working in France was fascinating.
I never had a big sister to teach me the ways and delights of fun, mixed drinks. The author’s charming way of relaying a recipe makes it seem so inviting. I am sure to try them, now!
I may have added some Kahlua to my hot chocolate as I wrote this review. (It was all that I had.). Oh, wait, I think I do have some champagne in the house…
American-turned-Parisian Vicki tells it like it is, from her crazy Christmases growing up in the Midwest to her even crazier holidays in her new home in France. Bizarre gifts, stomach-turning food, and holiday travel disasters are just some of the tales you’ll chuckle at in this installment of the Paris Confessions series.
This Christmas-themed memoir features 25 funny and heartwarming essays, all with a tenuous tie to Christmas, and pairs each with a delicious drink recipe. So grab your martini shaker and get ready for tasty cocktails and hearty laughs this holiday season!
